Anesthetic and surgical procedure(s) to be performed: Please be advised we can only accurately assess your pet's teeth and gums while using general anesthesia. For this reason, we can't always predict if a tooth extraction will be necessary until the procedure is under way. By consenting to your pet's dental cleaning, you also consent to any tooth extractions deemed necessary by the veterinarian. Tooth extractions are an additional fee and can greatly increase the estimate.
Pain Management Your pet will receive an injection to ease post-operative pain. However, continued pain management at home is highly recommended. Follow-up medications will reduce discomfort and promote a faster recovery. (Additional cost ranges from $13.25 to $104.00. Estimate is available upon request.)
Pre-anesthetic Bloodwork Please be advised that anesthetic and surgical procedures are not without risk. A complete physical exam will be performed on your pet prior to the procedure but this may not identify all systemic or metabolic problems. For this reason, a pre-surgical blood screen is recommended. These tests will assess organ function, and detect signs of infection, helping to determine which anesthetic protocol is best for your pet. (Additional cost is $152.00.
At-Home Dental Care Once your pet's teeth have been cleaned, it's important to continue dental care at home. Brushing your pet's teeth with a soft bristled brush is the gold standard. If you are unable to brush your pet's teeth, we recommend offering Oravet chews daily to help prevent bacteria from attaching to your pet's teeth. This will reduce plaque and tartar buildup and extend the benefits of veterinary dental cleanings
